Professional BackgroundDave van Eeden has 30 years of broad – based Human Resource management experience and has been the Executive Director – Human Resources, University of Cape Town, South Africa since July 2001. Prior to this he held senior Human Resource positions in the Sugar Manufacturing industry, the Chemical industry, the Retail industry and the Food Manufacturing and Consumer Goods industry. He also spent a short period consulting on Organizational Transformation. Dave has a BA degree in Psychology and Economics, an Honours degree in Psychology and a Master of Business Leadership (cum laude) specializing in people management. He has also attended Executive courses at INSEAD, France and IMD, Switzerland. In 2003 he attended the Council of University Professionals – Human Resources workshop in Ft Lauderdale, USA, the content focussing on ‘Executive leadership in HR in higher education institutions. During 2004, 2005 and 2006 he undertook benchmarking trips to the UK and Australia looking at Human Resource practices in Higher Education institutions. Dave runs a Human Resource Practitioners Programme and teaches on the AngloGold – Ashanti Leadership programme both at the UCT Graduate School of Business; has presented papers at the Commonwealth Universities HR conferences in 2004 and 2008 and at the 2007 New Zealand University’s Human Resource Conference. |
